Privacy Policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

This policy explains what TV-Top Games ("TV-Top", "we", "us") collects when you use our website at tvtop.games, the game at play.tvtop.games, our apps for phones, tablets, computers and TVs, and TV-Top devices (together, the "Services"). It also covers what we do with that information and the choices you have.

The short version

  • To play, we need a name for you at the table. If you make an account, we also need an email address or a sign-in from Apple, Google or Facebook.
  • Card details are handled by Stripe, Apple or Google. We never see or store them.
  • There are no ads in our games. On our website we use analytics and heatmap tools to see what works, and the Meta pixel to measure our own ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, we don't use any of those tools at all.
  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • You can delete your account yourself at any time. Here's how.
  • Questions? Email contact@tvtop.games.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your email address and a password, or the sign-in you choose from Apple, Google or Facebook. With those, we receive the name and email address the provider shares with us. In the app you can also sign in with a phone number. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase, our sign-in provider, and we can't see them.
  • Your name at the table. The display name, player colours and Supporter badge you choose. If you play as a guest, we only ask for a name.
  • Purchases. What you bought or subscribed to, when, through which store (our website, the App Store or Google Play), and whether a subscription or free trial is active. Payment card details go straight to Stripe, Apple or Google.
  • Messages. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write.
  • Email list. If you sign up for updates, we receive your email address and the page you signed up on.
  • Votes and feedback. Votes on upcoming games and any feedback you send us.

Information created when you play

  • Games. Each game stores the players at the table (display name, colour, badge), the moves made and the final scores.
  • Stats. Games played and won, per-game stats, and a history of the games you've played.
  • TVs and devices. When you pair a TV or a TV-Top device with your account, we store the pairing, the device's platform, model and app or firmware version, and when it was last online.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage information. Browser and device type, operating system, language, the page that referred you, pages and screens you view, and the buttons you click. This comes from the analytics tools listed below.
  • IP address. Our servers and providers receive your IP address with every request. Analytics tools use it to estimate a rough location, such as your country or city. We also use it briefly to stop abuse, such as too many requests from one place.
  • Heatmaps and session recordings. On our website, Crazy Egg records how visitors move, scroll and click, so we can see where pages confuse people. You pay on Stripe's own checkout page, so it never sees payment details.
  • App diagnostics. Our apps send crash reports through Google Firebase Crashlytics, and performance data and usage events through Firebase Performance Monitoring and Google Analytics for Firebase. These are linked to your account ID so we can fix problems you run into. We've switched off collection of advertising IDs in our apps.

We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or anything from your camera or microphone.

In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the analytics, heatmap, performance and advertising tools above are all switched off: on our website, in the game at play.tvtop.games and in our apps. We tell where you are from your IP address, or, if that doesn't work, your device's time zone. Only what's needed to run TV-Top remains: sign-in, payment fraud checks, crash reports, and Cloudflare's count of visits, which uses no cookies.

How we use it

  • To run the Services: set up your account, put you at the table, save games and stats, connect your TV and devices, and give you the games and perks you've paid for.
  • To handle payments: process purchases and subscriptions, start and end free trials, and restore purchases on a new device.
  • To talk to you: reply to messages, send account emails such as password resets, and send update emails if you've signed up for them. You can unsubscribe from updates at any time with the link in every email.
  • To improve TV-Top: understand which pages and games people use, find bugs and crashes, and make the site and games easier to use.
  • To advertise TV-Top: measure whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram lead to visits, and show those ads to people likely to be interested. We don't show ads inside our games.
  • To keep things safe and legal: prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and meet legal and tax obligations.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Contract: running your account, games and purchases.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the Services secure, fixing crashes, and understanding how the Services are used so we can improve them.
  • Consent: update emails. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies for visitors from these places.
  • Legal obligation: keeping payment records and responding to lawful requests.

Who we share it with

Other players. Everyone at a game sees your display name, colour, Supporter badge, moves and score. Games are reached by link or code, so anyone with a game's link can view that table. That includes a preview image of the board that appears when the link is shared.

Service providers. These companies process information for us so we can run TV-Top:

Provider What they do for us
Google Firebase Sign-in, game and account database, file storage, server code, app analytics, crash reports and performance data
Stripe Payments and subscriptions on our website
Apple and Google Purchases and subscriptions in the App Store and Google Play
RevenueCat Keeps track of what you've bought across all the stores, linked to your account ID
Klaviyo Our email list
Formspree Delivers messages from our contact form
Google Analytics Website statistics
Crazy Egg Website heatmaps and session recordings
Meta The Meta pixel on our website, and Facebook sign-in if you choose it
Cloudflare Hosts our website and game, and gives us traffic statistics without cookies
Google Fonts Serves the fonts on our website
Expo Delivers app updates

Some of these companies, like Google, Meta and Stripe, also use information under their own privacy policies, for example to prevent fraud or improve their services. Apple, Google and Facebook also have their own policies for sign-in.

Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our players, the public or TV-Top.

If TV-Top changes hands. If TV-Top is sold or merged, your information may move to the new owner, who would have to honor this policy.

We don't sell your personal information for money.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for sign-in, payments, analytics, heatmaps and advertising. Visitors from the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only get the ones needed for sign-in and payments. Our Cookie Policy lists them and explains how to block the ones you don't want.

The Meta pixel shares the pages you visit on our website with Meta, so we can measure and target our ads. Some US state laws treat this as "sharing" personal information or as "targeted advertising". You can opt out in either of these ways:

  • Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. When your browser sends this signal, our website doesn't load the Meta pixel.
  • Email us at contact@tvtop.games.

Browsers' older "Do Not Track" setting has no agreed meaning, so we don't respond to it. We do honor Global Privacy Control, as described above.

How long we keep it

  • Your account: until you delete it.
  • Games you played: game records keep the name and colour each player used, so everyone else's history still makes sense after you leave. If you'd like your name taken out of past games, email us and we'll do it.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after you delete your account.
  • Email list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Messages to us: as long as we need them to help you, and to keep a record of what was agreed.
  • Analytics, heatmaps and recordings: for the retention period set in each tool. After that the provider deletes them or makes them anonymous.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, on the web or in the app. Our account deletion page explains how, what's deleted, and what happens to your purchases. If you can't sign in, email us from the address on your account and we'll do it for you.

Keeping it safe

We use well-known providers, encrypted connections and access controls to protect your information. Only the people who run TV-Top can see account data. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If that ever happens to your data, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Children

You need to be at least 13 to have a TV-Top account. Younger children often play at the family table on a parent's or guardian's game, with that adult present. In that case the adult chooses the name they play under, and we suggest a first name or a nickname.

We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy,
  • correct it if it's wrong,
  • delete it,
  • stop sending you update emails.

You can change most of your account details yourself on your account page. For anything else, email contact@tvtop.games. We'll reply within 30 days, or sooner if your local law requires it. We may need to confirm the request is really from you first, usually by replying from the email on your account.

Europe, the UK and Switzerland. You also have the right to:

  • object to how we process your information, or ask us to restrict it,
  • take your information to another service (data portability),
  • withdraw consent you've given, at any time.

You can complain to your local data protection authority, though we'd like the chance to fix things first.

US state privacy rights

Residents of California and of other US states with consumer privacy laws have extra rights. These include the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information. They also include the right to opt out of its sale, of "sharing" for targeted advertising, and of profiling. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Visitors outside the United States

TV-Top is run from the United States, and our providers store information in the United States. If you use the Services from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to the United States and processed there. Where the law requires it, we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses and similar safeguards to protect it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change makes a real difference to how we use your information, we'll tell you before it takes effect, by email or in the app.
